Live Electronic Field Trip
On Thursday, March 22 join us on a FREE, LIVE, INTERACTIVE electronic field trip on at the Bay of Santa Maria near Mazatlan, Mexico. This virtual field trip is being delivered by webcast on this web page and by satellite, so you have two options to receive the program. See information below for your viewing options.
Wildlife biologists will be standing by to talk about migration and answer questions from your class. An e-mail address will be provided so that students can send in their question to be answered during the webcast/broadcast.
ENGLISH WEBCAST/BROADCAST
The 30-minute live, electronic field trip will be available (in English only) at the following times:
1 – 1:30 p.m. Eastern Time
Noon – 12:30 p.m. Central Time
11 – 11:30 a.m. Mountain Time
10 -10:30 a.m. Pacific Time
9 – 9:30 a.m. Alaska Time
SPANISH WEBCAST/BROADCAST
Following the English program, two programs will be available in Spanish only. First, there will be a 30-minute program about the Mexican state of Sinaloa where the Bay of Santa Maria is located on the Pacific Ocean. Sinaloa is one Mexico’s main agricultural producers, and it contains immense biodiversity since it encompasses an area from the Sierra Madre Occidental mountain range to the Pacific Ocean. This program will be available in Spanish only as a webcast and broadcast at the following times:
1:30 – 2 p.m. Eastern Time
12:30 - 1 p.m. Central Time
11:30 - Noon Mountain Time
10:30 – 11 a.m. Pacific Time
9:30 – 10 a.m. Alaska Time
The live, electronic field trip in Spanish only will be available as a webcast and broadcast at the following times:
2 – 3 p.m. Eastern Time
1 - 2 p.m. Central Time (Panama)
Noon - 1 p.m. Mountain Time
11 a.m. – Noon Pacific Time
10 – 11 a.m. Alaska Time
RECEIVING THE PROGRAM
- Webcast. The live, electronic field trip will be available on this web page on Thurday, March 22. A link to test to determine whether you will be able to view the webcast will be available here soon.
- Satellite broadcast. Satellite coordinates will be available a week before the broadcast and sent by e-mail.
